Credentialed Diabetes Educator, Accredited Dietitian
Sarah graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science, Nutrition & Dietetics from Charles Sturt University, NSW in 2009 and set off to Longreach in remote QLD to fulfill a short term contract. This was a truly amazing experience as delivering healthcare to remote communities is a stark contrast to metropolitan Brisbane.
Since moving to Brisbane in late 2009, Sarah has held a dietitian position in South Brisbane and worked as part of a wider team of dietitians to deliver a prevention program via telephone. Sarah has also enjoyed delivering group education sessions and individual consultations to people living with chronic conditions. Sarah developed a passion for helping people living with diabetes and set about completing her post graduate studies in 2013 with the University of Technology, Sydney to complete her Diabetes Education. Sarah then worked towards becoming a credentialed diabetes educator and was endorsed in 2015. Since becoming credentialed, Sarah has been providing health professional up-skilling to local GP’s and nurses and providing advice to them regarding tricky diabetes clients. Sarah has also completed additional training in counseling techniques including Health Coaching, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. These additional skills have helped Sarah to motivate and support her clients into achieving sustainable lifestyle changes.
Sarah’s love for helping people has brought her to Reclaim Health and Rehabilitation. Her special interest areas include – all areas of diabetes, particularly Type 2 Diabetes, weight loss and gastrointestinal health.
